Birthday Craziness – Blog Critiques

Gabriel is Nathan’s son – the one you see in the background of this video and in the photo below. It was his eighth birthday the other day, and we were talking and decided we wanted to celebrate it here on the Beyond Blogging site.

So we came up with the idea of the $8 blog critique!

Nathan and I have developed our skills over the last few months in recording critiques of blogs belonging to our Beyond Blogging Project students, and also doing the same for private coaching clients.

Normally we record these together, using a screencast of the blog we are talking about, and simply send the finished video to the client, with a series of recommendations.

Our regular charge is $145.

But to celebrate Gabriel’s birthday, we’re going to do 8 site critiques for 8 people, at just $8! And we’re going to bring the winners into the screencast call, and let them see the process we go through live, ask us questions and be a part of the whole process. It will be like a two on one consultancy! And they’ll get the video to keep.

All you have to do is convince us that you should be one of the 8.

So get busy in the comments here and let us know why we should choose your blog.

We’ll get back to the winners in a few days and schedule a good time to do it.

    Hi Nathan,

–Statistic: Over 70,000 Americans googled “online therapy”/”online counseling” in January '10. That's 70,000+ individuals who want to skip the office visit, but are searching for relief from anxiety and depression online. I'm trying to reach them…

–There's a lot of parents looking for parenting support online. Not that there aren't good sites out there, but I have 11 years of clinical psychotherapy experience.

–Pimped out reason: I have an 8 y/o son, too!

Thanks–regardless, what a fun time this was!

Hey guys, I think my new site, Advanced Riskology, would be a good candidate for your review. I just officially launched it a few days ago and it's gotten a fantastic response, but I designed the site myself taking influence from some other sites I admire, and I'd love to get some feedback on how well it translated because I don't want to confuse my readers.

I'd also be happy to let you guys share the results publicly if you decided you want to do that.

    Hey Mike and Nathan!
I would love your expert opinion on my blog. I launched it a bit less than three months ago, and it went from an alexa ranking of over 3 million to 248,000 and I am seeing more response and feedback.
But my bounce rate is high, and I am not getting many sign ups for my list or many subscribers.

I am aware of a few of the issues with it that need to be fixed, but I am really looking for experts to take a look and give me action steps.

    Thanks for your consideration!
(I think it's an amazing offer too. Happy Birthday to Gabriel!)

[...] We can only do 8 because of time constraints (he is an old man, he needs his beauty sleep), and since we’ll likely have more than 8 people interested, we’re having a sort of competition. Not a huge deal, but you have to tell us why you need the help, over here. [...]

Looks like people are afraid to step up! Looking good for Jaime, Tyler, Linda, and Brittany!

Tell your kid Bruce says Happy Birthday. If he ask who that is just pretend like my last name is Wayne or Lee. It's crazy how fast the lil boogers grow up.

I would love an opportunity to be reviewed over at Financially Digital. I'm not too proud to look for help or accept a critique, that's how we get better! I've had this iteration of a blogging project going since about April and I am voraciously trying to build my digital empire – this will be my digital empire. I know that I am in this for the long haul so if I don't get picked it's ok, but a push in the right direction would be awesome!

    :) He likes both

So are you throwing your hat in the ring or just saying hello? Either way, thanks for stopping in.

Hey guys! I'd like to get my blog critiqued:) My reason, well…because I'm me. What more do you need? More reasons? Ok, how about:

    1. I'm a technical knucklehead. I want to buy a few hours of VA time from Lisa M. and I would like a list of things I could have her help me with. This would be a great way for me to get that list.

    2. Trying to figure out how to monetize a blog that started out as “practice”, but that I now love to do.

    3. I have read 87 tweets about what Mike was having for lunch.

    4. I liked you guys before you were cool.

How's that! And happy, happy birthday to Gabriel! What a beautiful boy:)

I have a fairly decent number of visitors, but this has levelled off and that's nowhere near as exciting as seeing an upward trend.

Despite having those visitors, I struggle to make any kind of income from my blog.

I'd love to have you guys' opinions on what I can do better, and what I should stop doing!

  • http://www.bruceteague.com Bruce Teague

    I guess that's up to you…

but if that was an attempt to try and convince you to chose my blog then I really do need some help.

  • http://www.internetmarketingformommies.com Jackie Lee

I have rethought my unique position and will be going through a blog redesign which will go live next month. I'd love to see what your thoughts are on the site, and how I can make my new position very clear and fluid throughout my site. The content really won't change ~ it's pretty much what I've been doing, just being more clear about who I am and what the site is. It will now be “internet marketing simplified”

    I'd like a review.

My blog has been around for just over 3 years – I've been quite successful on the $$ side, but I would like more regular readers (ie RSS numbers). It has been a long, slow and painful march to get to 2,000 RSS and a lot of my colleagues have done much better.

Not sure if you can help since my writing style/topics might be a big driver for (or against) gaining new readers but any input you have would be appreciated.

    thanks, Mike

    Hi,

If the contest is still open, I'd like a shot. I've posted almost 50 podcasts for “Tom's University classes” about “basic principles of life” (4-6 mins. each) and still haven't announced the blog. My target date for announcing is June 30th. This is my first blog, and my first public sharing of what I've learned in over 40 years of studying what are the basic principles of a “healthy human being”. Thanks for considering me

Opps. Just read that you picked the winners w weeks ago.
